Don't Miss

Ariel Sanders

Hello. My name is Ariel Sanders and I am very excited to be a part of the Elite Performance Academy team. I graduated from college in 2014 with a Master’s Degree in Sports & Athletic Administration and Management while playing volleyball. I bring 14 years of volleyball experience to the club. I started playing volleyball in the 7th grade (middle school) at the age of 12 and continued playing in high school and college. I must admit, in the beginning I did not like the sport. It actually began when I decided to try out for the volleyball team in the 7th grade. I went through two days of tryouts and decided it was not the sport for me. After skipping the third day of tryouts, I realized how much I really missed and loved volleyball. Needless to say, I had to tell my mother what I did and she was not happy at all. Actually, she was furious. She said, “I would have rather you go through the entire tryout and not make the team than for you to try out, quit, and go back.” Wow! She was right. I had to face my athletic director/coach alone. My mother refused to speak with her on my behalf. After all, I did this to myself. This was my first adult-like lesson in learning to apologize and ask for a second chance. I faced my coach alone and she told me how disappointed she was in me for quitting. I was scared because I made a stupid decision to quit, but guess what?.…she let me back in. Yes? I worked hard, listened, and gave it my all. When the teams were announced, I made the “A” team. I learned a hard lesson at the age of 12 and I still carry that lesson with me today. Don’t give up. Always “Work Hard” and “Don’t Quit” because Winners Don’t Quit and Quitters Never Win.
